Help Make Masks For Vets

Do you have some extra time and a sewing machine? If so, consider helping out with St. Luke’s Masks for Veterinarians Project!

While many of us may be at home with our pets, local veterinarians and staff are still hard at work. To help keep our vets healthy (so that they can keep our pets healthy!) St. Luke’s is organizing the sewing and donating of cloth masks for our local veterinarians. These reusable masks will keep our vets safe, and will decrease the amount of disposable masks that they use. This allows veterinary hospitals to donate their stock of disposable masks to local hospitals for doctors and nurses caring for COVID-19 patients.

You’ll need:

  • 100% cotton or polyester blend cloth (Contact Cat if you need some)

  • Bias tape or grosgrain ribbon (or you can make ties as shown in the pattern)

  • Elastic for ear loops (or Goodie Ouchless hair ties)

  • A sewing machine

  • A 3 inch piece of wire (or unfolded small paperclip- large paper clips are too stiff) for the nose piece.

If you have questions as you sew, please contact Dr. Cat Rebholtz at catherine.rebholtz@gmail.com You can also contact her to arrange pickup of the finished masks.
