The letters of 1st and 2nd Timothy are part of what are often called the Pastoral Epistles. These Scriptural letters are written for pastors and Christian churches in the era immediately following Paul's ministry, and they are filled with urgent reminders, practical insights, moral exhortations, and profound wisdom. At their core, 1 and 2 Timothy remind us that the Christian Church is called to be the "household of God," and even though these letters reflect the concerns of a particular time and place, they still give us a variety of tips and instructions for living in true Christian community.
