St. Luke's Children's Chapel

St. Luke’s offers an age-inclusive Children's Chapel during the 10:30 a.m. service on Sundays. This program begins immediately after Holy Communion, which allows children to stay in worship for the majority of the service and to be shaped by hearing, seeing, and experiencing the words, music, and movement of the liturgy. We believe that regularly attending worship is one of the best ways for children to grow in their knowledge and love of God, even if it seems like they are too young or aren’t paying attention. We welcome children of all ages (and noises!) to enliven our worship. During Holy Communion, teachers, parents, and children who are attending Children’s Chapel are invited to come forward to receive communion before the rest of the congregation, and then exit out of the side door of the sanctuary, and follow their teachers into the Children’s Chapel, located next door in the Parish Hall. Parents are welcome to stay in church for the remainder of the service and to meet their children in the Parish Hall during Coffee Hour, or to accompany their children to Children's Chapel. Children’s Chapel consists of a child-friendly liturgy with candle lighting, Bible stories, and prayers. We believe that the words handed down to us in Scripture and our Prayerbook will shape the minds and souls of our students. Children’s chapel offers them a chance to engage directly with God’s word and to learn to pray on their own. On the first Sunday of each month, there is a special Children’s Homily offered in addition to the regular sermon, and children stay in church for the entire service. Curious parents, please know you are always welcome and invited! If you have any questions, please contact us to speak to Fr. Brian or Dr. Cat Rebholtz.
