Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is the first day of the forty days of Lent. This day is named for the custom of placing ashes on the foreheads of worshipers during the solemn liturgy. The ashes are a sign of penitence and a reminder of mortality, and are imposed with the sign of the cross. In the Episcopal Church, Ash Wednesday is observed as a day of fasting and prayer.

At St. Luke’s, our Ash Wednesday services will be held on Wednesday, March 2nd at:

7:00 a.m. - Solemn Eucharistic liturgy, no choir

12:00 p.m. - Solemn Eucharistic liturgy, no choir

7:00 p.m. - Solemn Eucharistic liturgy, with choir
